Community Action on Harm Reduction (CAHR) – Scaling Up Harm Reduction Services in Five Countries

Objectives/Goals:
The CAHR project sought to improve access to harm reduction services for people who inject drugs, their partners, and children across five countries. The goal was to strengthen civil society and government capacity to deliver harm reduction, while advocating for the human rights of people who use drugs.
Key Activities/Results:
- Provided harm reduction services including needle exchange, opioid substitution therapy (OST), and HIV prevention in China, India, Indonesia, Kenya, and Malaysia.
- Trained over 500 professionals and community workers in harm reduction techniques.
- Conducted four major research studies and developed publications on best practices in harm reduction.
- Supported peer-driven interventions and knowledge-sharing platforms across partner organizations.
