Activities:
Survey among PWID and their sexual partners that involved 10174 respondents. 2015: Survey among PWID and their sexual partners in 29 cities/towns
Purpose:
to track the changes and tendencies in HIV spread and receipt of information on potential behavioral factors related to HIV transmission in the population among key groups to use it in information sharing and advocacy activities, planning, M&E of prevention programs’ effectiveness.
Objectives:
evaluate/assess HIV, hepatitis B and C and syphilis prevalence among PWID and their partners, their behavioral patterns, connected to HIV-infection, drug use, usage of HIV prevention and treatment services and HIV in these two groups. 9405 PWID and 769 their partners were interviewed and tested. Research among PWID: 29 cities/towns: 25 administrative centers and the Crimea, in Sevastopol and 3 cities of Kyiv Oblast. Status:
2017: Survey among 3 key populations are being held: PWID, MSM and SW in 32 cities/towns over Ukraine Purpose: to monitor the prevalence of behavioral and epidemiological indicators among the key populations in Ukraine. Data received during research will also help to determine correlation of HIV and Hepatitis C incidence, which will allow to address HIV prevention and treatment programs to high-risk groups such as PWID, MSM and SW. The target sample among PWID is 10500 respondents, among the SW – 5600 respondents, among MSM – 6000 respondents.
