Link Up project to contribute to reduced unintended pregnancies, HIV transmission and HIV-related maternal mortality amongst young people affected by HIV (aged 10-24) in five countries (Bangladesh, Burundi, Myanmar, Uganda, Ethiopia).

Aim:
To increase health seeking behaviors and uptake of quality integrated maternal health, family planning and HIV information, services and commodities amongst young people affected by HIV and uphold their sexual and reproductive rights in generalized epidemics in Burundi, Ethiopia, Uganda, and in concentrated epidemics in Bangladesh and Burma.

 

Activities:
1. Collecting and comparing monthly and quarterly data from management information system for client tracking (SyrEx) on core Link Up indicators approved by the International HIV/AIDS Alliance (IHAA) from linking organizations and implementing partners in 5 Link Up countries (HIV/AIDS and STD Alliance Bangladesh (HASAB) — Bangladesh, Alliance Burundais contre le SIDA- Burundi, The Organization for Support Services for AIDS (OSSA)- Ethiopia, Alliance Myanmar — Myanmar, Community Health Alliance — Uganda), including data validation and cross checking.

2. Compiling data from SyrEx database (based on a list of additional indicators preliminarily agreed on with IHAA) and submitting the data to IHAA on a quarterly basis; submitting an annual report to IHAA.

3. Collaborating and sharing data with the Link Up Research and Evaluation partner — Population Council.

4. Liaising with IHAA to conduct/ support additional data analysis for specific technical needs as and when required.

5. Document learning and lessons learned within the Contract implementation.

6. Through a combination of appropriate approaches (distance support, field visits, etc.) providing continuous TS to Link Up in-country core team (and/or their designated M&E staff) around monitoring and reporting based on the capacity needs assessed and continuous communication with countries in order to ensure smooth data collection and reporting process under Link Up.

7. Providing technical support around utilization of management information system for client tracking (SyrEx) within the linking organizations and implementing partners in five Link Up countries.

8. Once a new on-line version of SyrEx is released, technical support was provided to all Link Up countries for smooth transfer from one version of the database to another, preserving all the data in the system

 

Project Outcomes:
1. On-line TS sessions with 5 countries based on questions arising after the release of the of SyrEx2 version.

2. Technical support visits to Bangladesh, Uganda and Ethiopia based on the needs determined during the on-line TS sessions.

3. Distant support in SyrEx utilization.

4. Facilitation of M&R and SyrEx-related sessions in two regional Link Up Partners’ meetings in Uganda and Thailand.

5. Technical support visit to Uganda provide technical support based on the needs determined during the on-line TS sessions for partner organization from Uganda, Burundi, Ethiopia.

6. Distant support in Link Up monitoring and reporting.

7. Documented lessons learned and good practice.
